The Paris Peace Forum is a multi-stakeholder platform launched in 2018 that aims to respond to global challenges through, in particular, a large-scale annual event. Throughout the year, the Forum works to strengthen the governance of global commons such as climate, space or oceans, and to improve international management of global challenges, particularly those of digital and disruptive technologies. Its annual event, in November, brings together heads of state, government and international organizations, as well as leaders of civil society and the private sector, to discuss political initiatives and concrete projects, with an emphasis on the participation of the global South.

The team of the permanent secretariat of the association, composed of varied and diverse profiles (diplomacy, public relations, communication, programming, operations, etc.), is currently looking for a communications officer on a permanent contract, with a focus on media relations but the ability to work on digital communications as well where needed.

In support of the deployment of a dynamic press and media relations strategy, you will actively participate in highlighting all actions of the association, in particular:

  • the annual event: encouraging the participation of journalists and promoting the issues at stake;
  • accompanying the projects supported by the organization; raising media awareness of the solutions proposed by the project leaders and
  • promoting the policy initiatives incubated by the Forum: making these initiatives known to the media.

The person recruited will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Press relations support:

  • managing and updating the press and media database;
  • coordinating media presence at the annual event;
  • facilitate in the creation of press releases and press kits;
  • analyzing press coverage and
  • ensuring consistent monitoring of international media in relation to the themes of the Forum and the supported projects and initiatives.

Digital communication support:

  • assisting in email campaign management and performance analysis;
  • creating social media content (messages, visuals, videos);
  • analyzing campaign performance and impact and
  • facilitating the integration of website content and general website updates.

General support for the communications team:

  • producing minutes of meetings and appointments, ensuring meeting reporting and follow-up;
  • creating various communication supports, writing and editing of documents for different target audiences (presentations, brochures, etc.) and
  • managing the main contact inbox.

 

PROFILE

  • Education: Master’s Degree (Bac +5 – Master 2) or equivalent diploma (eg. IEP) plus two years of experience in communications and/or marketing ;
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree (Bac +3) + four years of experience in communications and/or marketing

 

SKILLS & QUALITIES REQUIRED

Required skills & qualifications:

  • we are looking for someone who is versatile and adaptable, able to work autonomously and also as part of a team. The individual should have a curious and creative mindset, and not be afraid to suggest new ideas;
  • knowledge of the international media landscape and experience in dealing with journalists, obtaining coverage, managing press at events and briefing senior leaders for interviews;
  • mastery of the fundamentals of digital communication and understanding of the inner workings of social media networks (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube);
  • proficiency in English and French, both written and oral (C2 level or equivalent required);
  • complete understanding of office software (Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Sharepoint);
  • mastery of DTP software – Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator;
  • familiarity with international relations desired and
  • able to provide writing samples or other work examples upon request.

Additional valuable qualifications:

  • proficiency in Adobe PremierePro or other video editing software a plus;
  • experience working with additional social media platforms, particularly WeChat;
  • particular interest and experience in events and
  • beyond the required French and English, the 2 official languages of the Paris Peace Forum, proficiency in any additional languages would be an added value.

 

CONDITIONS

Full-time permanent contract starting no later than September 2024.

Salary: from 33,000 euros gross per year (commensurate with experience).

50% reimbursement of:

  • luncheon vouchers;
  • transport pass;
  • the association’s health insurance scheme.

The offices of the permanent secretariat of the Paris Peace Forum are located in Paris (15th arrondissement). It will be possible to telecommute for a maximum of 2 days per week, subject to approval by management.
