The compounded crises the world has experienced in the past years (from the COVID-19 pandemic consequences to tense electoral processes, environmental scandals to riots, conflicts and coups) have been aggravated and sometimes triggered by the spread of disinformation. This is exacerbated by technology, such as social media and AI, and repeated media attacks. Technological progress and wider access to the public have made disinformation campaigns and fake news a destructive common tool dividing populations and destabilizing nations from inside and outside. If knowledge is power, how do we stop the power of disinformation? This session will explore solutions aiming to counter information manipulation and harmful interference, and guarantee informational quality in real life and in the digital world.
